Written Directions — How to See Auras

We all came into this lifetime with the ability to see and sense energy fields or auras. Over the years, I’ve observed infants and animals reacting to the different aura colors around people so I’m assuming they see or sense auras, which leads me to believe we were born with this ability. Infants may be able to still see auras because they haven’t been taught otherwise. A baby will often smile and reach out to one person and cry and pull back from another. I’ve seen the reason they may have acted this way when I notice the person’s aura. I’ve also watched a dog bark at one person with a red overlay, yet befriend another with the childlike yellow aura. Observe babies and animals sometime to see if they look above the person’s head. This is usually where the aura is the brightest.

Exercises

Different people sense and experience these radiating energy fields or auras differently. You may visually see the aura, or you may experience it physically, psychically, emotionally, or even intellectually. The method that works best for you may depend on your aura color personality – Violets are more visual, while Yellows are more kinesthetic so they tend to physically feel the aura first. Use the method that feels natural to you and then trust what you experience.

Exercise to feel the aura:

You may process life more kinesthetically than other people, and therefore first sense auras through your physical body. You may feel the energy or heat in the aura through your hands. Heat is radiating energy. Many healers have a natural ability to feel energy with their hands and can quickly move into feeling auras.

In a relaxed and calm state, face the palms of your hands toward someone and hold them approximately three feet from that person’s body. Then, slowly move toward the person until you feel the sensation of heat or energy. In the beginning, you may feel something when you are a few inches away from the body. However, with patience and practice your sensitivity can increase and you’ll
eventually learn to feel a person’s aura from a greater distance. Most people have about six feet of differently colored, layered bands in their auras; while some more introverted people have auras that extend only about one or two feet from the body.

Exercise to see the aura:

When you first start seeing the aura, you may see a white or clear glow around a person’s head. This is where the aura is typically the brightest.

Have someone stand in front of a white background while you focus either on some part of the face, like the forehead or nose, or just above and past the person’s head. Look with soft eyes—with the same relaxed focus you use when you daydream. You may see best with your peripheral vision, meaning you may notice a subtle glow around the person in a different area than where you are
focused. Notice if you see a soft white glow around the person’s head or body. If you change your gaze and look directly at it and the glow goes away, you have just experienced seeing an aura. Don’t try too hard and don’t stare directly at it. Struggling and trying hard will not work. Relax and just let the image come to you.

Many people assume that what they are seeing is an optical illusion, an afterimage of the physical body. For example, if you stare at something red for a while and then look away, the opposing color green may appear before your eyes. This is an optical illusion. To prove to yourself that you are seeing the aura, ask the person to concentrate her energy and imagine sending an intense beam of light out from the top of her head. With practice, you will be able to see the white glow around her head intensify or fluctuate.

You can also practice seeing the aura around your hand. Hold your hand in front of a white background and with a soft gaze look either just past it or in the center of your hand. Notice if you are able to see a white glow around your hand out of your peripheral vision.

It may take a while before you see the different colors in the aura. Colors may spontaneously appear at some point without you even trying. You can practice looking at the auras of different people to see if you notice any subtle differences in their auras. This may be a way to start realizing you are sensing the different colors. Some people find it useful to close their eyes and imagine the person who is standing in front of them; sometimes a color appears around the image. This may be the way you know the person’s aura color. Your inner vision may intuitively know better than your outer eyes.

The colors began appearing for me once I sensed the person’s personality. I knew what a Blue personality felt like so I was eventually better able to sense the Blue in her aura. If you learn the personality descriptions of different aura colors and you are able to recognize someone’s qualities, it may eventually help you see the aura colors. Of course this only works if your ability results in you seeing the same colors as I do.

When you do start seeing colors, know that different people can see the colors differently. There is not a correct way of seeing or interpreting the different colors. Trust what you see or sense and ask yourself what those colors mean to you.

Whether or not you see the colors, being able to see the aura can still be helpful. Even a white or clear aura can reveal the state of a person’s physical health or emotional wellbeing.
